Isabella Mancini named to Capital District Sports Women of the Year Class of 2021
SCHENECTADY, NY – Isabella Mancini, a senior at Galway High School, has been named as one of the 10 scholastic award recipients for 2021 by the Capital District Sports Women of the Year program.
Isabella, who competes in soccer, basketball and softball, will be recognized at the Capital District Sports Women of the Year Awards Gala on Monday, August 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the GE Theatre at Proctors in Schenectady. Ticket information will be posted soon.
The Capital District Sports Women of the Year (CDSWOY) honors the best and brightest female student athletes from high schools and colleges in the Capital District of New York State. The student-athletes will be recognized for their achievements in academics, athletics and community service. More information is provided at the website, cdswoy.com.
Academically, Isabella was the 2021 Valedictorian for Galway High School. She received the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award, the University of Rochester High School Merit Scholarship Award and the Galway Central School District Soaring Eagle Award. She received the Academic Scholarship Recognition Award for three consecutive years.
Athletically, Isabella was named the 2021 Galway CSD Female Athlete of the Year. She was named to the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Soccer All Star First Team and was also a WAC First Team All Star in the Mohawk Division. She received NYSPHSAA Section 2 First Team honors. Isabella was a softball Defensive Player of the Year award recipient and won Rookie of the Year honors in track and field in her freshman year.
Isabella’s community service includes receiving the Lions International Award for Excellence. She served the Catholic Church Community Service Group and the Animal Re-population program for Saratoga as well as the Best Buddies Club. She was the Galway Class of 2021 Treasurer, the Student Senate Treasurer, the Science Club Vice President and Secretary, and the Leo’s Club Vice President.
CDSWOY will announce the next student-athlete recipient on June 16 and Mondays and Wednesdays through July 21. The final announcement will be made on Friday, July 23. A total of 10 high school and two college female student-athletes will be honored.
